10. Moonlight Breakfast – Time

 moonlight breakfast

Do you like to clap? Well, if yes then you should give “Time” a listen.

Cheerful pop music with a hint of swing that will definitely make you dance like a child when you’re home alone. So put it on, be sure that no one can see you and let this urge to dance take over control of your mind and body. Evidence is here.

9. Szabi – Elevate

 szabi

Szabi is a big traveller but still one of the key members of the Budapest underground music scene. After several successful projects(Amoeba, SoulClap Budapest) he released his first ever solo album this year which contains authentic old school soul, R&B and smooth funk elements, featuring ILLspokinN or Call Me Unique. Perfect choice for chilling, especially if you like broken beats.

From where? Not from Brooklyn but Hungary!

8. Elections In The Deaftown – Glue

 glue

Good psychedelic stuff with great guitar progressions mixed with nice synth melodies, reverbed vocals and well recorded drums. The whole thing is just flowing how it should.

7. Carnival Youth – Propeller

 carnival

Young fellas made a great follow up after their debut “No Clouds Allowed” which brought a huge international success for them.

Professional snowboarder brothers and their best friends together in one band. This is the essence of today’s biggest indie-folk group in Riga, and you can absolutely feel it in their music. Go grab your board and cut some smooth lines in the powder! (And surely don’t forget to bring your iPod with “Propeller” on it.)

From where? Not from the Alpes but Latvia.

If you want to grab some quality pop music on a light day then this might be your perfect pick. You’ll find great featured songs along the release with some of our beloved Ukrainian bands like Brunettes Shoot Blondes or Onuka. Well, we can tell that we have some history with The Maneken…

5. Lovely Quinces – Meet Me in Moscow, Pt. 1

lovely

Meet me in Moscow, Pt. 1 tells you a love story with its fragility, rawness, insecurity and passion from a view of a strong person who still can crack under the unfairness of love just like most of us. The second EP of Lovely Quinces shows great songwriting skills in music and in lyrics too. Amazing vocal performances and nice producing all along the release. This girl has a distinctive presence so you’d better give it a listen and then she’ll keep you there.

4. Pasts – Inner Hiss

 pasts

Pasts is the solo project of the well appreciated Polish band, Twilite member, Paweł Milewski. Inner hiss brings you the essence of 80’s love songs in a modern disguise. Airy synth melodies underlined with well placed weeping guitars or pulsing drums.

You can easily find yourself fantasizing about a night drive in slightly worn still charming car.

3. Motorama – Dialogues

 motorama

Motorama is one of the most important bands in Russia nowadays. Dialgues has a constant vibe that makes you feel like even in the coldest Siberian winter you still can manage to grab your surf board to have a good ride somewhere in Russia.

2. Iiris – Hope

 liris

Well produced deep electronic songs with beautiful soundscapes and catchy melodies. Her vocal performance is just the cherry on the top.

This is the kind of music which can fill you up with warmness and “Hope” even on rigorous winter days. Perfect choice for an intimate evening.

1. Otherside – Neverending

 otherside

My No.1. album of the year is from the Bucharest based producer, Victor Bourosu and his musical project, Otherside, which is another great evidence for the hidden musical treasures in the region. It’s a clever mix of quality electronic pop, soul, R&B with a nice hint of emotional melodies on the top. Be careful! All tracks are written to stuck in your brain for ever. Don’t fight against it, just go with the flow because it’s “Neverending”…

(Highly recommended for SOHN fans!)
